Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2025
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Scribamus, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Scribamus is currently in pre-beta. Features may change, break, or be removed at any time.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Scribamus. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You may only create one account. Duplicate accounts may be removed.
- Usernames must not impersonate other people or organisations.
4. Content You Post
You retain ownership of the content you write on Scribamus. By publishing content to the Lounge, you grant Scribamus a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content within the platform.
You are solely responsible for the content you post. You must not post content that:
- Is illegal under applicable law.
- Is sexually explicit involving minors in any way.
- Harasses, threatens, or doxes real individuals.
- Infringes on another person's copyright or intellectual property rights.
- Constitutes spam or deliberate misinformation.
- Contains malware, phishing links, or malicious code.
5. Collaborative Writing
When you collaborate on a manuscript with other writers, you agree that all co-writers have permission to edit the shared document. The manuscript host controls who has access. Disputes between co-writers are the responsibility of those involved — we don't arbitrate creative disagreements.
6. Adult & Mature Content
Scribamus is a general-audience platform. While we understand that mature themes (violence, dark themes, adult situations) are part of serious fiction, explicitly sexual content intended for adult audiences is not permitted. Use good judgement; content that would embarrass a reasonable person if attributed to Scribamus should not be posted.
7. Reporting & Enforcement
If you see content that violates these Terms, please use the report button on the relevant book page or email us at Scribamus.help@gmail.com.
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion, without prior notice in serious cases.
8. Availability & Changes
Scribamus is provided "as is." We make no guarantee of uptime, data retention, or feature availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time.
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version here with an updated date. Continued use of Scribamus after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scribamus and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data or content.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Scribamus operates. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first.
